Every web designer who uses Adobe Photoshop should go and have a read of this site:

The Photoshop Etiquette Manifesto for Web Designers

There are so many points I agree to and actively do myself. If you work in an in-house design team, like me, have a look through the list and make sure you adhere to the points listed, it’ll make all of your lives so much easier!

My favourites from the site:

  • Store all assets relative to PSD
  • Name layers and name them appropriately
  • Use folders
  • Use a grid
  • Redraw buttons and shapes, don’t stretch!

I could go on with my list, but I’ll stop there and let you explore the others.

  1. “Bonus Points:Stay away from Bevel & Emboss. Unless you’re designing a 1990’s business site. ZING”

    Ha!

    • One big place I’ve seen that’s guilty of over using Bevel and Emboss is BHS. ALL over their emails. They do the clever thing of combining it with mega dropshadows!
