Super 8 (11/08/11)
After witnessing a mysterious train crash, a group of friends in the summer of 1979 begin noticing strange happenings going around in their small town, and begin to investigate into the creepy phenomenon.
Super 8 is probably one of my favourite films of the summer season. Un-complicated, charming, well written and a cast of children who can not only act, but aren’t annoying!
The cast was great. The story was, while simple, nicely done. The FX were amazing. The train crash scene was somewhat ruined when I went to see it with one audience member literally laughing out loud during the whole terrifying sequence of events. Thanks Mr. Lunatic. JJ loves his lens flares and there’s a whole lot here. Though I think Star Trek had a higher count.
I spent a lot of the film I was trying to figure out whether the alien was the Cloverfield monster. Who knows! Well, I do. Having seen the film.
Simply, a great film. Go see it!
