The Warriors (04/09/11)

A gang called The Warriors are framed for killing a gang leader trying to unite all the gangs in the area. With other gangs gunning for them they must get back to the home turf of Coney Island… Alive.

I’m always a little afraid of watching films from a long time ago. Worried that they were great in their time, but haven’t aged all that well. A little bit like me deciding to watch a random episode of Jayce & the Wheeled Warriors to relive my youth and being horribly crushed.

I’m happy to say that The Warriors has aged surprisingly well. Sure, it’s very of its time. With the music and the dialog and the general theme of the film. But, I really enjoyed it. Gangs of New York on a massive scale. And a crazy scale. Loved the intro, seeing all the different gangs. Mime gang! Ha!

The action is typically 70s with the sound FX. Loved it. Simple plot. The Warriors just want to get home.

I understand why this film is such a cult favourite.
