It’s been nearly 2 weeks since I publicly promised I’d do some more exercise for my own benefit.
I’m happy to say that skipping about 3 times a week has not broken me. Yet. I can now skip for about 30 seconds without stopping or tripping up on the rope. I have noticed that as I get tired, my legs tend to get lazy and not jump as much as they should do!
Gradually increasing the time. Well, I’ve upped it by a couple of minutes since I started. Continuous skipping is definitely harder than I thought it would be. It’s a good sign I’ve not been put off by it yet though.
Is it enjoyable? Well, as enjoyable as anything fitness related can be 😉 I used to love it as a kid.
It is actually. And because it’s about doing it for short bursts of time and then pausing and getting going again I find it a bit more challenging.
So that’s a kind of high intensity workout? I have some Kettlebells I use in a similar manner. Short bursts, rest period, rinse and repeat. May have to invest in a skipping rope now 😉
Yep, high intensity cardio. I laugh at myself as the minutes go on and my legs refuse to jump the rope.
My brother was telling me that Kettlebells were a really good idea but just trying to try one thing at a time at the mo!
Aww, poor legs! Definitely one thing at a time, I agree 😉
