Greetings from Portugal

Holidays

Decided to take a little break from every day life and have run away to Portugal for a few days to spend some quiet time with my folks. Love that I’ve got somewhere like this to just get away from everything. While I’m here I tend to get a little snap happy. Though, it does remind me how much I love just taking photos. Cheesy, I know. But I love it.

So here’s what I’ve been up to!

There are loads of wild flowers along with all the things that have been planted around here. When the weather’s nice, it’s just another excuse for me to take photos of some very pretty flowers.

The purple daisy

Flying in

Fully loaded
This is a weed that grows around the hills. This time of the year the hillsides are just white, covered with these flowers.

First bloom
Mum and dad’s trees are in full spring bloom. Think this is one of the plum trees.

Poppy

The only one
Poppies are everywhere right now and they’re just beautiful! More poppies would be better!

Broke down
This tree is dead. It’s an old cork tree that died a few years ago and hasn’t yet been cut down for firewood. I’ve been trying for ages to get a half decent photo of it. There’s just so much random shrubbery around it. Was quite pleased how this one turned out.

As per usual, visiting the folks means getting to see our family pooch – Cody. Taking her out for a walk is always fun. She’s ever so slightly over enthusiastic about getting out and about. It’s just a bit cute. What’s also cute is her fondness for having a splash while crossing the streams.
Splish

Splash!

While crossing the stream I noticed a little something in Cody’s path. Somehow in her jumping and splashing, she managed to miss it!

Lost and found
It’s a crayfish! Or the fresh water equivalent. It was pretty small, though he/she had their pincers out ready for anything. All I wanted to do was to pick it up and throw it back into the moving water.

Cody’s never happier than when she’s off playing fetch with a stick:

Stick!

Happy go lucky

All in all, she’s one happy dog.

Smiley happy faces

The World Rally Championship are heading our way on Sunday. The Rally de Portugal’s circuit is pretty much on our doorstep. Really looking forward to seeing if I can catch some of the cars driving by! I’m not joking when I say it’s on our doorstep. Hopefully be able to get some decent snaps. Well, if it’s not pissing down raining.

  1. Glad your wrists’s better hun and glad you’re off on your hols! It’s nice to get some sunshine and some peace every now and then.

  2. This time of the year is great for getting out and about with the camera. Glad to see you having a break and that your wrist is better. Cody is lovely. I didn’t realise she lives in Portugal?

    • Yep, with my parents. She’s the family dog, but lives with the parents. I’ll be having her for a month soon though. Exciting!

  3. Oh my gosh, LOVE that picture of the tree. Absolutely breath-taking. Dang, I can’t even imagine something that cool looking over here in Chicago 🙂

That one of Cody with the stick is adorable. Too cute.

    • Thank you 😀 Cody just sees that stream and gets ridiculously excited. She used to run across it in as few steps as possible as she didn’t like the water. Now? Now, it’s all about the jumping and splashing!

German Shepherds never grow up, right?
