It’s all happening

For some reason it’s taking me a little while to figure out how to start this post. Let’s see if I can get this post going.

You might have noticed a little countdown ticking down on the sidebar over there. Or you might not, because you’re reading this in feedly or some other RSS reader. So this is a bit pointless.

Let me get right to the point.

I am moving to Bahrain!

Bahrain here I come!

And now I don’t know what else to add. I guess, I could say when I’m moving, right? That would be the 20th of May. That is the day I’ll be flying out of London Heathrow, heading to Bahrain via Abu Dhabi. Arriving in my final destination early morning on the 21st.

Moving to Bahrain has been a decision that’s been a long time coming and I’m incredibly excited to finally be doing it. It’s actually happening!

There’s no doubt it’s going to be a big change. For one thing, in all my life, I’ve moved a total of 6 miles. SIX. Moving to Bahrain is going to going to significantly up that mileage. By a few thousand miles, at least.

The fact that I’m moving is still sinking in. I know it won’t feel real until I actually start packing. Which, as you might have guessed, hasn’t started yet.

There’s no doubting I’m going to miss a heck of a lot of things and people here. Everything from family to friends to simple things like my beautiful fibre optic broadband. Think I’ll miss the broadband the most out of that list. (Please sense the sarcasm in that sentence. Writing this just in case the sarcasm isn’t clear enough.)

I am very excited. Excited to be moving. To be doing something new. Something I had never expected to be doing. Excited to be faced with some new challenges. And happy that I won’t be facing them alone. That’s perhaps the thing I’m most excited about.

The blog will most definitely still be here. That won’t be going anywhere.

So here I go! Wish me luck! If I may be so bold to ask for a little bit of luck.

  3. Wow! Exciting. I’ve moved as far as Berlin before, but Bahrain definitely beats that! I wish you lots of luck and I hope everything goes smoothly. It will be great to hear about your time there.

  4. Woah… what?!

Okay, okay, shock subsiding, I’m so happy for you! It all sounds very exciting and I can only imagine the many wonderful experiences it will bring you. It’s quite brave to move such a distance away, but it’s one I admire. I wish you only the best. πŸ™‚

    • Thank you Jaina! I’m still sort of coming to terms with the fact that I’m moving. It’s sinking in, slowly! Definitely feeling more real now than when I initially wrote this.

  5. Oh my gosh! I’m nervous and anxious and I’m not the one moving! πŸ˜€

I really wish you all the best. It is such a brave step when moving such a distance. It can also be incredibly rewarding. That is what I wish for you. I know it will be an amazing change.

Just make sure you keep your word and the blog keeps going!!!! πŸ˜‰

    • Definitely going to keep my word, Keith.

I go through bouts of nerves and anxiousness, but then it all dissipates and excitement kicks in.

  6. Wow! Sounds like a big move. Just look where that job at Sit Up has got you πŸ™‚

Good luck and hope it all goes well. I’m envious of the weather already…

    • Haha, cheers Chris!

Well, the weather will be nice, when it’s not 40+ degrees! That, I am not looking forward to.

  7. Whoa, congrats on the move!!! And though things will take time getting used to, I know you’re going to make it your new home. Congrats again! Good luck! Have fun!

  8. That’s pretty brave to move that far away. Hope it all works out for you in Bahrain. Good thing is you’ve been there before, so you sort of know what to expect!

    • Yes! Though I know visiting somewhere and living there are two different things, but I know what I’m getting myself into.
