Blog Resolutions

New Years Day really is just another day. It’s just the label that day itself is given that elevates it somewhat amongst lesser days. And yet, we always attribute that day to fresh starts and new beginnings. And I’m going to be doing just that over here.

For the last few months this blog has been on my mind a lot. What I want to do with it. Time Well Spent started out as a place for me to share my photos and thoughts on film and TV as well as some more random things. Over time, not much has changed. Though probably less of the randomness. I wanted Time Well Spent to be a personal blog, but I think I’ve not quite been hitting that target recently either.

In 2015 I want to change this. So I’ve come up with a few blog resolutions. Even though I hate that term. They are just that. Okay, how about I just call them a list. A list of things I want to do with my blog in 2015. I label them things as I’m wary to call them targets or aims – makes it feel like if I don’t quite hit them, I’ve failed. And I ain’t putting that on myself.

1. Do more TV/film stuff

Blog resolutions: More TV/Film stuff

Whether it’s talking about films I’ve seen, film scores, whatever, I want need to get back to writing about films. I feel like I’ve lost a bit of my passion because I’m not writing and engaging as much about films as I used to. Sure I don’t get to see the latest and greatest as and when, but I still see some films. Same goes for TV.

2. Post more photos

Yes, I’ll be doing another Project 365. But I want to post more of the photos that aren’t in that. All the other things I take photos of and the stories behind them. If there are stories at all. Regardless, they’ll be posted. Be prepared.

3. Be more me

Blog resolutions: Be more me

I’m always left wondering if I show enough of my personality on my blog or not enough of it. After all this is meant to be my personal blog. So maybe I should show a bit more of an insight to me and my life. It’s not the most interesting thing in the world. But this is my blog and I can do what I want with it, right?

What would you like to see more of here? Honestly asking here! Always open to suggestions. If you’ve got a blog, have you got any blog resolutions? Though, again I reiterate, I really hate to call them that. I just can’t think of what else to call them.

  1. Would love to see more photos. LOVE the 365 format you’ve been doing this year. Also, more personality. More films and even books if you’re reading? I actually use your film guide as a reference to see if a film is good or not! Overall, I hope you have a fantastic 2015 and this blog goes to even better heights!

    • Would love to share my thoughts on books I read, but a part of my doesn’t feel quite “qualified” to have anything decent to say on them! Weird thing to say, mostly because I don’t read many books, but maybe I should give it a try.

      Thanks, Humaira πŸ˜€

  2. The differences between Bahrain and the UK seems like an obvious theme to run with, I guess you already do that anyway. As long as you are enjoying blogging, then I suppose anything goes πŸ™‚

  3. Jaina, I think showing more of yourself in your blog is always a good thing. I’m still not great at that side of it. I can totally sympathize with wanting to do more writing about film and TV. I’m hoping to get there too this year and get more engaged overall. It’s easy to get out of the habit. I’m glad to hear you’re planning to do more with the photos. They’re one of my favorite parts of your blog.

    • Always feel partially embarrassed and and conflicted when I try and be more me on the blog. It’s that fear of “what will other people think?”. I’ve conquered that fear in “real life” though!

Habit is a good word to use for blogging. Just like an exercise routine. If you make it a habit then it’s something you will just naturally do. And not think about “fitting it in” to your schedule.

  4. I’d love more stories behind the photos, though the photos themselves are beautiful. That’s what would make the photos be more personal, in my opinion, and also bring more “personality” to the blog. Can’t wait to see more photos & hear more stories :). As for me, I don’t make goals specific for the new year either. I just KNOW I have to work out regularly and get more sleep, which means the blog will be lower priority and I’m ok with that.

    • Just hope the photos I take aren’t boring. Sometimes every day life captured through photos aren’t all that interesting.

Work out regularly and get more sleep are GOOD things. You gotta prioritise things for yourself and what’s good for you. The blog will still be there, as will your readers πŸ™‚

  5. Ah Jaina, I love your photos. I always do. I don’t get around here as much as I would like but that is something that I’m working on changing. I also have found that I still have the “need” to blog and discuss things I read or watch. While it was somewhat dampened for a time, it seems to be re-awakening. It’s a good thing; even if one forgets how to do it!
I will say this about what I know about YOU – whatever you choose to put here and discuss will ultimately be charming and unique. xoxo

    • Blogging is one of those things that comes in waves/cycles. From personal experience, I definitely go through lulls in blogging. Where I am content just not doing anything, but other times I need to.

Thanks Jenn, look forward to reading your blog πŸ™‚

  6. I love your site, Jaina! I think the fact that I’ve “known” you for what, at least three, or four years (?) now online, I always enjoy visiting Time Well Spent. Personally, I’d love to see more on film and TV, haha, although I enjoy all the personal anecdotes and photography as well. I enjoy talking movies with you, and I think we have a lot of common interests in film/TV. Good luck in your “things”! Haha.

    • Wow, has it been that long already!? Time is fricking flying. Definitely want to up the film and TV stuff here. I haven’t been doing nearly enough of it. So looking forward to getting back into that πŸ˜€
