Remember when… #2: The first big holiday together

Life

It’s no secret that I like Google. And I like Google even more when it reminds me that seven long years ago I went on holiday to Barcelona to a lovely bunch of people.

SEVEN YEARS! When I saw that number I was a little shocked. Has it really been that long? The memories of that holiday are still so vivid. Starting with getting to the check-in desk at Luton airport and finding out that you accidentally forgot the first name of one of your closest friends. Sorry Mel! And having the shock of my life when the tire of your rental explodes in an underpass in the middle of the city. During rush hour.

Oh yes, probably one of the most traumatic holiday experiences. Having a tire explode. In an underpass. With the surly Spanish not having an ounce of compassion as they are forced to drive around you because you have no fucking clue what to do.

It was a short break. With a day spent in Barcelona, a day spent at Port Aventura and I can’t actually remember what else! Perhaps we just spent some time doing nothing. The day in Barcelona wasn’t nearly enough. Not just because of the traumatic incident with the car tire. There’s just so much to see. But we did manage to make our way to Park Güell for a wonderful view of the city.

And then there were those sarcophagus figures in Salou. After seeing them there, I saw them everywhere.

Thanks for the memories, guys!

Glad this wasn’t the last holiday we had together. Even if the roster changed ever so slightly.

  1. Okay, as a whole this holiday sounds like it was a good one. I mean, with the tyre of your rental car popping, it made it one that you will definitely remember with a smile and a chuckle 🙂 Loving the photos by the way. I hope I too will be able to explore parts of Barcelona one day.

    • Barcelona’s a beautiful city, you definitely have to go there at one or many points! I’m keen to go back there and spend some more time in the city. One day 🙂

  2. I hate how quickly time flies these days, but that’s a comment for another day.

What a absolutely beautiful place to visit. I’m not sure what’s worse though, the tire explosion, or forgetting a close friend’s name 😉 Actually, no, the tire thing sounded horrifying! And in the middle of rush hour, yikes. :/

    • Tell me about it. Logged into amazon today and found out I’ve been a customer of their’s for 15 years! Just under half my life. Bloody hell.

Not sure if it’s a good thing or bad thing that the tyre explosion was the most memorable experience of the holiday!
