Remember when… #3: A bittersweet trip to Bath

Bath is a beautiful town. And I’m glad I got to spend just a couple of days taking in what I could. In this edition of Remember When… I’m going back to May, 2013. It was an emotional time for me. See, I was staring down the barrel of a long-distance relationship. What do you do in that situation? Well, go for a few days away to forget about things for a little while.

Thinking back, the couple of days we spent there bleed into each other. Meandering around the streets of the town. Finding little cafés and bars to avoid the rain or just spend a few quiet hours in each others company. Our favourites being Jika Jika and Door 34. We spent hours sitting in Jika Jika with a couple of hot drinks. It’s funny how that’s one of the most memorable moments of the trip for me. If you can’t sit in content silence with your other half, who can you sit in content silence with?

While it was a bittersweet holiday for me back then, I can look back on these memories with a smile on my face. We really did make the most of the time before Anish had to leave for Bahrain. Even if it was just a couple of days. It was a couple of days well spent. Seeing somewhere new for the both of us. And forgetting about the future for a little while.

Interesting to go to a historical place. Your pics reminded me of the beautiful architecture in Bath. Think it’s human to recall details about people from trips, we are not machines who store historical facts. Once went to the Louvre with the family and have forgotten most of musuem, yet clearly remember a human gold statue in the grounds who suddenly moved and turned out to be real!

    • Exactly – I remember appreciating the beauty of the town and the buildings, but the moments I remember more and the ones where we were just doing something totally inane like sitting on a bench watching the world go by! Humans are weird, haha.

  2. You’re so lucky. One day, I’d like to go to England. It’s a dream. Thanks for sharing your lush pics! The sunglasses reflection is quite good 🙂
