Living for the weekend

Life

Every Monday morning I wake up yearning after the weekend that’s just gone by, eagerly waiting for the next weekend to come. Sunday nights are the worst. Knowing that the following day begins the five long days until the next weekend arrives. Friday evening rolls around, everything resets. As cheesy as it sounds, it feels like anything is possible. Two whole days. DAMN.

The combination of remote working from home and Anish’s crazy schedule means the weekends are all the more precious for us. We make the best out of it.

Back in England, I took for granted that there was so much to do. Jump in the car. Drive somewhere. Do something. It’s a bit limiting in Bahrain. In the Middle East two of the top past times are eating and going to the mall. There’s only so much of that you can do. And to be honest, avoiding the mall on the weekends is our top priority.

This weekend we’re making the most of it. Bye-bye Bahrain, hello Dubai. Just for the weekend. Monday morning, you’re the furthest thing from my mind this Friday evening.

    • Well, least the weekends are something to look forward to and make the most out of. Life would be boring if every day was an excitement πŸ™‚

  1. Ah, the life of an expat. I remember malls. No more of them in Siem Reap. My Aussie friend called going to the mall “civilized living” – we all thought that was hilarious. Looking forward to your Dubai post (?) πŸ™‚

By the by, watched the first ep. of Manhattan. I’m hooked!

    • Yes, they’ll be a post on Dubai, soon!

Civilized living eh? That gives me a bit of a chuckle – but I guess here when it’s so hot during the summer, at least it’s somewhere to go that’s a respite from the heat.

And yes! So glad you’re getting hooked on Manhattan! Such a fantastic show πŸ˜€ You’re going to enjoy it if the first episode hooked you πŸ™‚

Based on what you write here, you are probably a fan of the song “I Don’t Like Mondays” by The Boomtown Rats πŸ™‚ Hope you have a nice trip to Dubai!

    • Combination of things, mostly I can do my job out here but Anish can’t do his in the UK. And we save a fair bit of money not being in London. A few compromises.

  3. Hello Jaina,
Catching on your posts today… I too live for the weekend πŸ™‚ Hope you had a great trip. can’t wait to read about it <3

  4. Aw wow!! hope you had a fantastic time that even left you in a better mood yesterday πŸ™‚ Weekends are so precious that I am annoyed that the week ahead always seems to darken the Sunday mood slightly. Fingers crossed you will find more fun and unusual things to do at the weekend!

    • Had a brilliant time, thanks Mo πŸ™‚ And yes, got to move past those Sunday night blues so that we can make the most of the little bit of weekend we have before the week ahead. It’s always so hard though!

      • It is. Which is probably part of the reason why I ended up buying the complete box set of the Harry Potter books haha. Anything to make Mondays that bit more exciting! Glad to hear you had a great time though!! Weekend in Dubai… *sigh* One day… πŸ™‚
