Updated Fave TV Opening Title Sequences

Top TV Opening Title Sequences

A little while ago, when this blog was just starting out, I listed out some of my favourite TV opening title sequences. A few years later and the opening title sequence is still an endangered species. While some TV shows are still creating fantastic openers, others are opting out, like The Knick and Fargo. I guess, maybe it’s something to do with time. Or something more complicated I don’t know about.

Who knows, I still enjoy a good opener and since I last listed my favourites, I have a few new ones. So thought it was about time for my to update the list. Continue reading →

2013 in TV

2013 in TV

2013 will always be the year of the TV show graveyard for me. Is it strange that I’m proud of the amount of TV I dropped in the last year? It felt ridiculously good to let go of so much.

I said farewell to Revenge, True Blood and The New Girl. Started and stopped the UK version of The Bridge – The Tunnel. Gave The Crazy Ones a decent shot, but that got old real quick. Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D was just woefully bad and boring and poor. The Blacklist went a little bit too Alias on me a little too quickly. Continue reading →

RIP Dexter. I wished I cared more

Dexter season 8

It’s well over a week since the final episode of Dearly Devoted Dexter aired. Though, I did my catch up with the final two episodes of Dexter on Wednesday night last week. I don’t know why I remember the specifics of that. It wasn’t as if it was anything mind-blowing. Sadly.

Honestly. Remember when Dexter first started. “Oh my WORD! There’s a TV show where the hero is a serial killer!” It was controversial. It was dark. It was entertaining. And, damn, was it well written. Dexter was one of the most intriguing characters on TV.

And now? Here at the end of all things, what are my feelings about Dexter? Eh. At one point, there was anger and frustration. How could Dexter’s character be brought to such a point. But honestly, I just don’t care any more. How sad is that. Continue reading →

A maybe weekly round-up (3)

It’s the evening of August’s summer bank holiday. I’ve had my three-day weekend. Back to work tomorrow to a four-day working week. Summer is nearly over. Usually that’d make me a little bit sad. Summer’s my favourite season. I’m enjoying all the long, hot days. Warm evenings and nights. It’s brilliant. But. The end of August means the beginning of September which means it is mere days until I head to Bahrain. WOO!

So what’s happened in the past week? Continue reading →

A maybe weekly round-up (2)

There was a plan to post something during the week. But my laptop decided to die. Okay, let me correct that. Windows decided to die. For, possibly, the third time in 6 months Windows 7 on my laptop had freaked out while, I think, trying to do an update and the operating system just died. Start-up loop. JOY. Thankfully, because a) this has happened so many times and b) all my data is stored on my Synology NAS, it’s not too much of a big deal to have to re-install Windows and start from scratch on my laptop. Just a pain having to re-install drivers and software and what not.

It wouldn’t be a total lie if I were to say that Apple Macs are suddenly seeming an attractive alternative. If they weren’t so bloody expensive.

Here endeth the moaning. Continue reading →
