And I’m back!

Holidays

Well, if you noticed I have been a little bit quiet over the past week or so. Reason being? I was on holiday. I did have vague plans to write a typical ‘I’m off on holiday post!’ but I just didn’t get round to it! I don’t think I’ve ever been as disorganised, or perhaps, completely lax, before heading off on holiday. Heck, I hadn’t even packed until about midday on the day of my flight. The cab was picking me up to get to the airport 2 hours after that.

Home

My home away from home. What am I saying? This sometimes feels more like my home!

So how was the holiday? Great. Just what I needed. I left my laptop at home to ensure I’d have a proper no-working whatsoever holiday. Pretty much worked. I couldn’t help but answer some work emails while away.

I think she likes it!

Family

For the longest time we always thought Cody just didn’t like water or swimming. When she was a pup, any time anyone went for a swim in the pool, she’d run back indoors and watch from the doorway. As she got older she got more used to it, but she’d merely follow whoever was in the pool until she got bored.

Taking her to the beach was hilarious. She’d do everything to not let her feet get wet. Got tricky when that favourite stick of her’s was thrown into the sea and she just had to get it.

She’s never got in the pool, she’s never swum in the sea. Water is acceptable when it’s in the water bowl.

That’s all changed now. A few weeks back, me and the brother took her to Virginia Water Lake. It was ridiculously hot, probably about 28 degrees C when we were there. We figured we’d let her cool off her paws in the water.

Yep, that’s her loving it. We had to keep her on the lead because she’s got issues with other dogs and there were plenty of those around.

The following week we decided to head back to Virginia Water Lake with Cody and see if she’ll actually go for a swim. You know what? Ohh… I’ll just show you:

And now the only thought is, is she going to jump into the pool in Portugal?

The post with which I offend a bunch of parents

Life

You know I said you’d probably be hearing more from me on my blog after I left my job? That didn’t really work out. I’ve been busy! However not busy with what I thought I would be.

Cody

See it’s been my first week of looking after my little Cody on my own. And I have a feeling I’m going to offend a few parents out there with what I’m going to write! Thing is, I’m about to compare looking after Cody to having kids. Hear me out.

  • I’ve been getting up earlier than I did when I went to work while looking after Cody because she’s up. Kids do that, right?
  • I have to spend my time tiring her out so she has her nap in the morning and afternoon.
  • She likes to bother me while I’m on the laptop in the study while actually working.
  • Cody likes to remind me that I need to remember to feed her. Not that I’ve forgotten, but she still feels the need to remind me.
  • No matter how much I clean up after her, the place turns into a mess five minutes later.
  • In the evenings, after having some food, Cody’s so tired she’s a bit over active and I need to tell her to go to her bed to go to sleep. I’m fairly certain I did that as a kid.

Parents out there, tell me there are some similarities here. Oh and sorry if I have offended!
