Black and white photograph of the top of a rocky outcrop of a mountain.

That high-top

Landscape in black and white? Sure, why not. Going back to something I mentioned earlier this week—I dig highly textured black and white imagery.

And in this image that’s contrasted with the smoothness and significant less contrast-y sky.

Why did I choose a black and white edit for this image? The texture and the contrast. I took this photo around midday. The most interesting part of the photo were the textures in the rock and surrounding flora.

The starkness of the face of the rocky outcrop just became more elevated when I took away the colour. Taking away the colour made it feel more barren and a little bit otherworldly.
