Wouldn’t you think these a little strange if you found them growing in your garden? More so, if after 7 years of living in the same place, this is the first time you’ve seen them.
I wish I knew the name of the plant that created this. These are the seeds. I’ve been watching them since I first saw these things pop up. They started out green and I thought that was it. Then they turned red overnight.
Adds a nice bit of colour in amongst the erm, weeds I’ve got growing everywhere.
Looks like berry clusters of Arisaema triphyllum. Have you see it growing in your garden? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arisaema_triphyllum
Thank you Mui! That’s them. Though not nearly as striped when they flowered. They were more of a very pale green/very pale yellow.
Reading that wikipedia entry, I will make sure not to eat them!
Fab! My other half is, among other things, a botanist, so I’ve acquired some knowledge of plants over the years.
They are without doubt Lords and Ladies: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arum_maculatum
They are a very common woodland wildflower and they are also a prolific weed in my garden. I like them though. Super shot. It really zings.
Ahh weeds. I have too many of them already. Though, if all my weeds were these, I’d be happier!
Thanks, Rachael 🙂
Beautiful red beauties!! Haha, that’s redundant ;). I also find little things here and there even though I’ve probably seen them a million times. That’s kinda what I love about photography!
Yes. Photography makes you see things with a whole different perspective!
