February, 2019, I spent a scant 4 days in Beirut. But they left an indelible mark on me. The same cliched reason that most people give when they travel to any place—the people, the food, the culture—but beyond that it was also the look and feel of the city.
I don’t think I’ve ever been in a city that’s quite felt the same. Bordering on European, but unmistakenbly Middle Eastern at the same time. No wonder it’s called the Paris of the Middle East.
But now, after the explosion in the city last August, I can’t help but wonder what the city looks like now. What this scene looks like. How the city is… doing. It’s such a beautiful, wonderful city filled with amazing people. Looking back at the photos I took while there, they bring a slight tear to my eye.
