Photograph of the pavement lined with trees and brushes but shrouded in shadows.

This is the way

Picture this. You’ve got the day off. Weather is unseasonably cool. It rained last night. Humidity has set in in. But it’s still below 90F. What do you do? What else do you do but go out for a much-needed long and windy walk around […]

Photograph of a path in a park winding towards the left, with the foreground in shadow.

In the shade

Misty, moody days at the park. It doesn’t happen often in Phoenix. In Boston, probably a bit more often. The shaded paths were a little shadier. And beyond the border of the shade, everything felt a bit unsaturated thanks to the mist that morning.

That winter, evening sun

A bit strange talking about winter while it’s over 100F outside. Or maybe this is the perfect time to be reminscing about winter days? Evening walks when there’s a slight chill in the air and the shadows grow long. As I write this, I’m chuckling […]

Photograph of a close up of palm tree leaves shrouded in shadows.

Shrouded

When you see striking shadows, shapes, and light begging you to take a photo. I think this may have just been a tree on the side of the street near the apartment block that I live in. It was the middle of the day. The […]

Photogaph of a tree with light behind it. But it's so dark you can only really see the outline of the tree and branches.

In the shadows

Wanted to share another occasion where the photo I had in mind mind didn’t exactly happen. And I’m not exactly pleased with this shot, but there are elements of it I don’t hate. I wanted to emphasize the light streaming through the tree branches more. […]

Photograph of an empty alley way.

Night glow

Photos of night time scenes can be surprisingly colourful. With everything being so devoid of light, the little snatches of colour that appear feel more amplified. The street lamps on this empty alley in Malaga cast such a beautiful orange colour on the more reflective […]

Black and white photos of dappled light across two indoor doors.

My favourite light

Ending out the week of black and white with a favourite of mine. And unlike all of the others—a phone photo. I don’t get a tonne of natural light in my apartment. But first thing in the morning, the light reflects off of our neighbours […]

Photograph of a dark room in a house with a white door on the left and a dark figure in a doorway to the right

It’s happening

You know the GIF. The “It’s happening!” GIF. That’s been me, on the inside, for the past week. Because we’ve now officially started renovating our house. We closed on the house in October last year. It’s a beautiful home, originally built in 1927 and really […]
