Very much hoping to watch more films off of this list this year as part of my 100 movies challenge. I’m going to make a concerted effort to watch more of these.
Wish me luck!
Nice to see Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter and Spring has been added to the list 🙂
I’m also curious to know what you think of Match Point, and if you think Woody Allen captured the spirit of London.
I made note of that one 🙂
I’ve heard very polarising views of Match Point. Some saying it’s Allen’s best, others revile it. As I’m not much of a Woody Allen fan (don’t hate, but don’t love), looking forward to seeing it.
Impressive list, with lots of great movies. First go through these before adding more! 😉
Ha! Yes, that’s a good idea 😉
Ok, there are three movies that I must insist receive priority attention: Casablanca, The Third Man, and Rear Window. I’ll start a petition if I must but you have to see the three movies!!!
Will do my very, VERY best Keith!
You forgot Annie.
*runs*
You’re never going to stop, are you?
You’ll be pleased to know that was my last attempt. I think…
Good luck, you can do it!
I don’t think I’ve watched anything on my list of films I need to see for a very long time. I ought to work on that!
Yes you should! I work on my list, you work on yours. Deal?
Oh Casino! I envy you – seeing this movie for the first time is incredible! I must have seen it at least 10 times.
Yeah? Awesome!!
Awesome list! I’ve seen a couple of them. OMG, 12 Angry Men is a great brilliant movie. I can’t wait for you to watch it.
I LOVE Eat Drink Man Woman. It’s by far, my favorite Chinese movie. Come to think about it, It maybe the ONLY Chinese movie I like.
I can’t remember whether I’ve seen that many Chinese films…
Ahem…

Ahem indeed. Dates noted. Though, why can’t they be a teeny bit earlier?
Because they expect you to live in London! Breakfast at Tiffany’s is on a weekend
Meh.
I know your list is already HUGE, but I have to make one more suggestion — The Lives of Others. My favorite film from last year’s project. I think you’ll love it.
Noted! Am always happy to add more recs. When I get round to them? Who knows! Cheers, Eric 🙂
A matter of life and death is in my top ten favourite movies of all time. So is Singin in the Rain. You must see them ASAP and tell me what you think of them. I am guessing you’ve probably seen most of the ten though. But if you haven’t seen Ang Lee’s Sense and Sensibility, add it to the list. You won’t be sorry!
You know what? I haven’t yet! I don’t mind a bit of period drama, but it’s never been high on my list of favourite film genres. I do appreciate Ang Lee though. Consider it added, thanks Rachael!
I am hesitant to make up a list like these and ask for suggestions as you did…I’d never leave my living room. haha
On your list I am most interested in your seeing 12 Angry Men, 28 Days Later, Casablanca, The Life of David Gale, Lost in Translation (yay, Scarlett!!), The Maltese Falcon, Matchpoint (yay, Scarlett again!!), Schindler’s List, Singing in the Rain and To Kill a Mockingbird.
so…watch those first! 😉
I will do my very best, T 😀
I love alphabetising stuff because you get some crazy juxtapositions. Schindler’s List next to Shaolin Soccer! Actually I think you should watch these on the same day!
Ha! By all accounts, I’d probably need to watch something like Shaolin Soccer after Schindler’s List.
There’s a lot, and I mean a lot of extremely worthy films in this list of yours. I would call this an extremely awesome collection you have in there with very few exceptions.
I am very frugal about my scores because I’m a crazy perfectionist in my own life and I expect perfection when I sit down to watch a film. Having said that terribly ridiculous thing, I’ll tell you that out of your list, there are a bunch of films that may not have gotten great scores from me but that are still incredibly interesting experiences.
I’ve only given perfect scores to 14 films (out of more than 1,500 I’ve seen) and you have six of them here. So, I absolutely recommend The Godfather I&II, Life is Beautiful, Cinema Paradiso, Dr. Strangelove, Schindler’s List and Unforgiven.
Also, I don’t know exactly why you were advised to not watch the end of the Godfather trilogy. Wait, I do know…most people tend to regard it as a much lesser accomplishment than the first two. While it may be true, there are very worthy aspects to the third part that make it a must-watch if you enjoyed the first two. There are very memorable scenes and Al Pacino continues to excel in his most memorable character. I would not miss it if you’re planning on watching part 1 and 2.
You know what? When it comes to trilogies, or any film with multiple parts where at least one of those films are worth a damn, I can’t help but not be a completest with them. Chances are, I’ll end up seeing the third. Just won’t be a massive priority.
