It was such a lovely, bright sunny day when I visited Alcatraz. It betrayed how I felt visiting this a place with a dark history. History that I was very much clueless about.
I took this photo as the boat was pulling away from the dock. Another image I didn’t invisage being black and white, but when editing the bright and sunny day didn’t feel like the right choice for this image. Coupled with feeling somewhat… sad after going on the tour.
Taking away the colour matched my mood. Is there such a mood as “unsaturated?” That’s how I felt.
There is some beauty to the island, too. Some beautiful viewpoints and gardens. But the prison itself is something else. Very sombering.
