Just like that, June is over. I think you can call me settled in my new home. Definitely settled. Got my daily routine going. Even managing to inject some exercise in every day.
What was I up to in June? Well, there were a couple of trips to the cinema to see X-Men: Days of Future Past and How to Train Your Dragon 2. By the looks of my photos, I did a lot of eating. Caught the dreaded lurgy from the OH. Started and am now steam rolling through a rewatch of Battlestar Galactica. Well, rewatch for me, but first time watch for the OH. Which is the sole reason of the rewatch!
Day 152 Both of our first trips to the cinema here in Bahrain. And it will definitely not be the last.
Day 153 Baking for the first time in Bahrain. My simple banana bread. Need to do something with those black bananas.
Day 154 Using my partially green fingers to see if I can get some herbs growing in the kitchen here, with the limited sunlight and well.. anything remotely natural. We’ll see!
Day 156 Heading home after rescuing the man’s wallet from the supermarket. Where he left it.
Day 159 Not a bad view, right?
Day 160 SUCCESS! The little pots of seeds that I planted the other day are growing into the herbs, I hope, they claim to be. Well, the basil and oregano are. The parsley is busy doing nothing.
Day 162 Giant pizza from Il Capo. Sadly this is not the pizza, just the true to size pizza plates that are provided by this Godfather/Mob themed Italian pizza place.
Day 164 One of the many perks of working from home? Having lunch made me for me. Yum.
Day 166 Running errands in the evening. In traffic next to the Al Fateh Mosque and it looked rather lovely tonight.
Day 169 Who’d have thought, getting a cold when it’s rarely below 35 degrees outside.
Day 171 Being a sickie and popping those cold and flu tablets. Are they helping? I have no idea.
Day 172 Out to watch the football with friends. Never expected Ghana vs. Germany to be so damn exciting.
Day 173 What we do pretty damn well together – cook up a storm in the kitchen.
Day 175 The post-it notes are being put to good use. Timetabling phone interviews and keeping note of all my days I’ve worked so far this month. Important stuff!
Day 176 Chromecast + Videostream + Battlestar Galactica = evening all wrapped up. (Middle of a big ol’ much needed BSG rewatch. Damn this show is good.)
Day 177 Getting the yoga mat and pilates band out every day. Because I have to. I really, really have to.
Day 179 One of my all time favourite meals on the island – breakfast at Saffron by Jena, in Muharraq Beans, eggs, ful, bread, taters. Completely and utterly gorged ourselves.
Day 180 Aimed to go out to get some Ethiopian for dinner. Unfortunately it’s closed during Ramadan. So, stumbled into Sangeetha which was close by. Not only was the food excellent, but they have a branch in London. Not just London, but Harrow. HA!
Day 181 And just like that, June is over.
What’s in store in July? Well, I’ll be turning 30 for one thing! Flip flopping between whether I like the idea of turning 30 and not. Nothing else really lined up though. Looking forward to whatever happens.
Check out all of my 365 photos so far this year right here.
Good for you on getting things to grow! I killed the Mint plant my mother-in-law gave me. Or the neighbour’s cat did. I blame it on the cat!
All that food looks so yummy! I’m very impressed with the cooking going on, I also have some ripe bananas. May be time to whip up some banana cake!
Well, the herbs are now dead. I’m blaming the lack of any natural light!
Overly ripe bananas are the best thing for a banana cake. The mushier the better.
Happy early birthday, though I won’t say the number since you’re still on the fence about it ;). That’s a cool garden in day 14!
Aww, thanks Lisa. Just days away now! π
